On the Menu: Dogfish Tacos

Dogfish is an extremely versatile fish, with a mild flavor and tender texture similar to mahi-mahi. With crunchy cabbage and a hint of lime, these Dogfish Tacos are sure to make a splash at your dinner table. Check out our recipe and prep tips below!



Dogfish Tacos

Makes 4 tacos



1 pack Atlantic Spiny Dogfish, thawed and cut into 2 inch pieces
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 corn tortillas
½ small purple cabbage, sliced thinly for slaw
1 avocado, sliced
Sour cream
Lime, cut into wedges
Cilantro, for garnish


  1. Season Dogfish with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the tortillas on both sides.
  3. Heat oil in skillet. When oil is hot, add Dogfish and cook until one side is browned. Flip and cook other side.
  4. Transfer to tortilla and top with slaw, avocado, sour cream, and salsa to your preference. A squeeze of lime, a spring of cilantro and you’re good to go! Serve with your favorite Mexican soda or beer.
